Renovated permanent collection: Art in Slovenia from 1870 onwards
The National Gallery’s permanent collection is back on display in all its splendor!
Starting Tuesday, July 14, 2026, the New Wing of the National Gallery—which showcases Slovenian art from 1870 onwards—will reopen to the public. Returning to the collection are key works that were exhibited over the past two years at the Belvedere Gallery in Vienna and the Dachau Art Gallery in Bavaria. These masterpieces of Slovenian Realism and Impressionism were viewed by a combined total of more than 110,000 people.
In addition to well-known works, the display features pieces from both gallery and private collections that had not been accessible to the public for some time, as well as several new acquisitions, such as the genre scene *At Breakfast* by Jurij Šubic.
