The oval format indicates that the painting was designed as a wall decoration, together with other similar pictures which are today either lost or destroyed.
The elements of the composition, which are derived above all from the works of the Venetian landscape painters, in particular Marco Ricci, are the same as those on Flurer’s paintings, but the poor quality does not permit an attribution to the painter himself, we must attribute it to one of his direct followers.

Provenance: Attems collection in the castle in Slovenska Bistrica until confiscation in 1945, then taken to Ljubljana to the FCC and entered into the FCC register as No. 6351, “Landscape, oil on canvas, 86 x 68 cm (sic!), 18C, oval”. Transferred to the ALU for the planned gallery in 1951, then loaned to the SAZU for the furnishing of their offices.
