Born 1554 in Verona, died 1609 in Venice. Alvise (or Luigi) was a nephew and pupil of Paolo Veronese. A number of works which are reliably his have survived, notably in the church of San Niccolo dei Mendicoli in Venice. He worked in Venice and between 1584 and 1608 he is mentioned as a member of the painters’ guild in that city. His early style shows a close similarity to the art of Veronese, while later there are definite parallels to Palma the Younger.
