Wolgemut came from an important family workshop in Nuremberg. In his workshop, which he took over from his wife, Albrecht Dürer also developed his skills. Wolgemut, who produced altarpieces, stained-glass windows and woodcuts that exerted enormous influence, was a true businessman and would accept a variety of church furnishings to be manufactured in his workshop. He employed numerous assistant painters, sculptors, glassworkers, carpenters and smiths.
