The artist painted his daughter clad in a pale pink dress, sitting in an armchair and holding a flower.

The composition is faintly reminiscent of some French impressionists (Degas), but the serious expression on the face also indicates an obvious study of the Italian Quattrocento. This is a characteristic of the “ritorno all’ordine” group, with the traditional and anti-modernistic line which was being introduced to figural art by Italian Fascism, before it was ensnared in the German Nazi net.
